The City of Woodstock is a dynamic and growing community of 41,000 located in the heart of southwestern Ontario at the crossroads of highways 401 and 403.  A growing community, Woodstock has kept its small-town flavor while offering the types of amenities typically found only in larger cities.  The Woodstock Police Services Board is currently accepting applications for:




The Woodstock Police Services Board is seeking a professional, ethical, and collaborative leader who will exhibit a strong sense of commitment to the community of Woodstock.  The Chief of Police will present a visible and respectful profile while leading the Woodstock Police Service, and is dedicated to maintaining and creating new partnerships with the residents, businesses and stakeholders within the area. 


Establishing a positive working relationship with the Police Services Board, Association, various government and community leaders is imperative.  The Chief of Police will ensure formal messages are communicated effectively, and appropriate information is shared between the various parties and the Woodstock Police Service.  The Chief of Police will advise and assist the Woodstock Police Services Board in the development of policies, strategic programs, and the implementation of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.


The Woodstock Police Service has a compliment of 68 sworn officers and 43 civilian members.  The Chief of Police will have the confidence to lead the service with a clear sense of direction, and through delegation, will hold final accountability for the results. By maintaining a visible presence at all levels of the Woodstock Police Service; commitment to improving morale, addressing performance management concerns, and developing trust and transparency through open communication will be key as a people manager.


As an individual who will deliver strong leadership to all members of the Woodstock Police Service, the Chief of Police will provide a positive work environment that will recruit, motivate and retain an engaged Police service, while identifying training and development opportunities.  Operating in a complex environment, the Chief of Police will have the ability to encourage positivity, and promote continuous learning, while fulfilling succession planning initiatives.  The Chief of Police will possess the ability to communicate effectively with all sectors of the community, problem solve, be technically inclined, and have a reputation for fairness and impartiality.
