Wading Pool Supervisor Summer Student

Overview

Does the sound of kids’ laughter warm your heart? Can you spot something out of place from across the pool? Do you thrive on solving problems as they arise? If so, you may be a perfect fit for our Wading Pool Supervisor. This summer position is responsible for overseeing the safe operation of our wading pool including supervising staff, assisting with training, providing excellent customer service, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of wading pool patrons
  • Operating facility within the provincial health regulation and the City of Woodstock facilities operational expectation (Regular pool tests, maintain adequate ratios of attendants and patrons, etc)
  • Assist with scheduling, training and monitoring wading pool attendants
  • Enforce and Maintain City of Woodstock Policy and Procedures
  • Custodial duties in the wading pool area to maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Ordering and stocking of all snacks
  • Deal with any customer service issues that may arise, referring problems or inquiries that they are unable to handle to the Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation.
  • Responsible for maintaining logbooks
  • Responsible for the taking payments and tracking patron numbers
  • Provide first aid when required
  • Oversees the work of wading pool attendants, performing duties such as but not limited to:
  • verifying assigned work has been completed,
  • ensures schedules are followed,
  • mediates problems encountered between staff and public,
  • verifies cash receipt totals and balances
  • Arrange for staff replacement in the event of an employee calling in sick.
    • Works with minimal supervision

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Attending high school and must be returning to school full-time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and be physically able to perform duties.
  • Must have a current Lifesaving Society Instructors certification, a Standard First Aid with CPR C certification, as well as a current National Lifeguard certification
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a lifeguard and instructor

Even better if you have:

  • Experience supervising staff
  • Certification in Aquatic Supervisor Training

  • Salary rate is $21.86 per hour as per Schedule "B" of the collective agreement.   
  • Scheduled 32 to 40-hour work week which will include weekends and alternate shift hours.
  • Will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • In accordance with the City of Woodstock’s Covid-19 Vaccination Policy, new employees hired with the City of Woodstock are required to be fully vaccinated (2 doses) as a condition of employment, subject to accommodations required in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
