Summer Student - Accessibility Researcher
To be considered for this 8-week position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian College or University program and must be returning to school full-time in the fall.
- Excellent research skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
- Experience with document remediation (Word and PDF) will be an asset.
- Experience with Accessibility legislation will be an asset.
The student will work under supervision of the Digital Coordinator with input from the Woodstock Accessibility Advisory Committee. The student’s duties will include:
- Research best practices for posting content on social media.
- Research website and provide feedback on accessible content.
- Reviewing information regarding the Integrated Accessibility Regulation 191/11 under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Assisting with the development of the necessary policies to comply with the legislation;
- Accessibility audit on the City of Woodstock website.
- Creating and remediating accessible documents or the City’s website;
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary rate is $16.00 per hour, with standard office hours of Monday – Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Expected start date is late June or early July depending on availability.
