LICENSED MECHANIC
The City of Woodstock’s Fleet Services team is looking to hire a full-time Licensed Mechanic as soon as possible! As a member of this important team, you will be responsible for the standard maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment for the Public Works, Transit, Fire and Parks Departments. • Pay - $30.38 - 33.75 per hour, as per Schedule “A” of the Outside Collective Agreement.
• Monday to Friday – various shifts days and afternoons available.

What education and experience do you need?
• Minimum Grade 12 or GED, with preference given to applicants who have graduated from a 2-year College program
• Valid 310T(Truck & Coach License) and 310S(Automotive License) in good standing with Ontario College of Trades
• Ozone Depletion Certificate
• Valid Class “DZ” driver’s license in good standing (or obtained during probationary period)
• Must have an excellent knowledge of electronic and hydraulic systems as well as the ability to read and understand electrical schematics
• Experience welding and cutting including the use of oxygen, acetylene, arc and MIG welding
• Experience rebuilding/repairing a wide range of equipment and vehicles
• Must possess the ability to read and interpret parts & service manuals as well as wiring schematics
What will you be doing?
• Working with all City of Woodstock fleet including dump trucks, loaders, plows, City Transit buses, vactor trucks, Fire trucks, and small equipment (chippers, compressors, pressure washers).
• Test, diagnose, analyze and repair vehicles in accordance with Manufacturer’s specifications using OEM software, prescribed service manuals, technical reference materials and schematic diagrams (Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, Meritor, Bendix, Voith, International trucks DLB and NED, Freightliner Diagnostic link, E technician, Volvo).
• Make mechanical repairs (brakes, springs, changes tires, repairs gas, diesel and propane engines, air conditioning troubleshooting and repairs, Dickey John troubleshooting, repairs and calibration, GPS installations, repairs and troubleshooting, while using shop tools such as: hoists, cranes, air tools, power tools, saws, presses, torches, etc.
• Regularly services and checks the overall condition of each vehicle (tune ups, oil changes, grease, undercoating and rustproofing).
• Respond to emergency calls when the vehicle breaks down while in service (complete safety inspections in compliance with Ministry of Transportation guidelines and corporate standards).
• Complete the mechanics work order detailing materials and time used on each task.
